Layouts and finishes
My first issue of Trinity (#3) came out yesterday and I thought it'd be neat to post some of the breakdowns I did and the finishes that Jerry Ordway did. Kind of a peek behind the scenes so you can see how differently things can be done in comics.
First the rough pencils from me...

And then the fantabulous finishes by Jerry.

Comics used to be done a lot more like this, and it was really fun to do. I've been working on newer issues that are fully pencilled, however, and I'll post those when they come out to compare and contrast.

That's some gorgeous stuff, Mike! I can't wait to see the even more finished pencils.
Wow, he did a LOT of work on your layouts! Some folk whould just ink it and add a few details, but i can see he even tweaked the perspective of the background in panel one, added a lot of detail to the girls shirt and even added blinds to the window in the final panel.
Looks great (both versions)
Dec.
Wow! That's awesome. I knew to expect great work from Ordway and he doesn't fail here.
It's funny how, while everything Ordway draws looks like Ordway I can still see you in there.
Cool stuff.
Wow! I miss seeing Ordways' work lookin so good like that.
(and that guy Norton aint too bad either).
Hey Mike!
I think the team-up with Ordway works *really* well with your layouts. You can obviously see his style but yours is not lost. Good stuff!
amazing the difference that inks make, not a slash at mike at all, just that ordway brings through his own style on top of gorgeous pencils to really 100% sell it.
Amazing comparison. Thank you for posting both. I was able to still make you out in there, but he really took over. The most dramatic to me was third panel and how the waitress pouring coffee was flipped. Was that to make the eye flow into the next panel?
